The person whom I admire most is Tyra Banks. Tyra came from bleak beginnings and was born on December 4, 1973, in Los Angeles, California. She has grown as an amazing women who has changed the fashion world in the best possible way. As a model and a very morally correct woman she taught people that appearance do not matter nearly as much as much as what is on the inside of a person, this is why I think Tyra is an astonishing inspiration to us all.
Tyra grew up with a single mother and a brother, with not very much money. As a child she was ridiculed for her looks. Many children of her school didn't like her because she was the only African American girl in her school, and this is right after the idea that African American people should be equals. Her slender figure, and thick, curly black hair made her a target at school. Tyra was a tall, skinny and awkward adolescent. She was constantly teased by her brother and her classmates, and often ran home crying to her mother for comfort.
Late in high school, everything changed for her. She filled out her skinny frame, began to work out and finally decided to become a model. Tyra pursued that goal with the determination. Her first modeling job started in Paris when she was 17. An agent with Elite Model Management had offered Tyra her first modeling job. When she accepted the job, Tyra didn't think that a trip to Paris to be the beginning of a long modeling and acting career, but rather a great way to make money for college. Tyra was pinned with the Michael Award for 'Supermodel of the Year' in 1997. After she became successful in the modeling business she decided to get into the television. Her first TV appearance was acting as Jackie, Will Smith's ex-girlfriend, on the series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." She's also appeared in the hit movie 'Coyote Ugly.'
Today Tyra Banks is one of the top models in the world. In 2000, she began executive producing hosting and head judging America's Next Top Model. America's Next Top Model is where Tyra takes in young women looking to become just as amazing of a models as she has, they have to go through a number of challenges and be judged to be the next top model. Next she has started her own talk show called "The Tyra Banks Show." The Tyra Banks Show deals with all types of issues including eating disorders, self esteem problems, love lives, modeling, and teenage difficulties. Tyra gives everyone who comes on her show a warm welcome, and wonderful advice.
Tyra Banks is truly somebody that I, and many more admire because of her many amazing works in the community and great moral values. She grew into an even better women as she became a model and a self-proclaimed model and mentor. She will continue to be a mentor and an influence for teenagers all over the world. I admire her for everything she's done for the modeling industry and the self confidence of teenagers everywhere.
